The Bigger Picture is a week of special events hosted by Lansdowne Baptist Church.
Monday 26th – Thursday 29th March
Doors open from 7.30pm for drinks in the Hub. From 8pm-9.30pm we will have music, interviews with special guests, a thought provoking talk and the chance to ask questions.
Monday 26th March - Neelu Seetaram is a university research lecturer. She was born in Mauritius into a High Priest Hindu family but always felt that there was something missing in her faith. During her life she looked into other religions but it was when she was in Australia that she started to turn to Jesus. Find out why she felt drawn to Christianity and why Neelu realised the only way was to follow Jesus.
There will be music from a local singer Victoria Mellor and a talk on How can Christianity be so exclusive and intolerant?
Tuesday 27th March -John Mosey’s life was turned upside down when he heard the news that his 19 year old daughter, Helga was murdered whilst on board Pan-Am flight 103 when it was blown up over the town Lockerbie He will share how he and his wife coped with their loss and how they were able to forgive the terrorists.
There will be music from singers Ann Savage and Kezia Navey and a talk on How can forgiveness be possible?
Wednesday 28th March -Chrissie Croucher lives in Bournemouth with her husband and children. Find out what inspires her to go out every Tuesday night responding to the needs of vulnerable people on the streets of Boscombe. She will speak of the work that she does and why she loves those whom society often rejects.
There will be music from local musician Adam Tuffrey and a talk on How can people really change?
Thursday 29th March – Mike and Kathy Coulson’s eldest son Philip died aged 7
following a brain haemorrhage in 1994. They will share how they continue to work through their grief as they and their other children cope with the loss of their son and big brother. They are Co-ordinators of the Bereaved Parents’ Network, part of the national charity Care for the Family, providing support for other bereaved parents.
There will be music from singer song writer Andy Mayo and a talk on How can hope be more than an illusion?
Michael Ots – lives locally but travels widely explaining the message of Christianity and answering popular questions and objections in University campuses across the UK and Europe. He is the author of ‘What kind of God – responses to 10 popular accusations’. Each night he will be speaking and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
